A sports event merging extraordinary competitive spirit and show: this is the “formula” of the Memorial Calarese, the International Sabre Trophy that will be held on Saturday November 21st at 9.30 PM in the prestigious Teatro Politeama in Palermo.A top class sports competition organised in memory of Wladimiro Calarese, one of the best Sicilian sabre fencers of all times, born in Messina in 1930 and winner of prestigious sports events – individually or as a team member; in his extraordinary career Calarese won four Olympic Medals and two World Medals. Eight sabreurs among the best sabre fencers worldwide and winners of the most important fencing events in 2009, including with the Olympic Champion of Beijing 2008, will participate in the Trophy celebrating Wladimiro Calarese and the world of fencing:

• Man Zhong – Olympic Champion, Beijing 2008 (sabre individual men) 
  
  
• Nicolas Limbach – World Champion, Antalya 2009 (sabre individual men) 
  
  
• Veniamin Reshetnikov – 2009 European Champion (sabre individual men) 
  
  
• Mamoudou Keita – 2009 African Champion (sabre individual men) 
  
  
• Luigi Tarantino – 2009 Italian Champion (sabre individual men) 
  
  
• Jason Rogers – 2009 Pan American Champion (sabre individual men)
   
• Giampiero Pastore – winner of the Silver Medal of men’s team sabre at the World Fencing Championships – Antalya 2009
