Summary of meeting

Evaluation Commission

On November 12^th, 2010 at 4:00 pm, at the Sofitel Paris Le Faubourg, the Evaluation Committee met to examine the proposals received andselect the "best idea" for the creation of the "Catania 2011" Championships Mascot.

- Giorgia Caloro, SiciliaScherma secretary

- Antonio Belcuore, Executive Officer of the Sicilian Region “SiciliaScherma Project”

- Roberto Lanza, Head of Communications and Marketing (Department of Tourism, Sport and Entertainment) of the Sicilian Region

- Rosalia D’Anna, Head of Communications and Marketing (Department of Tourism, Sport and Entertainment) of the Sicilian Region

Apologies:

- Frantisek Janda, Président de la Confederation Européenne d’Escrime e Commision de Promotion et Pubblicité (FIE).

Agenda:

1. Examination of the proposals received (n. 28) by all commission members;

2. Analysis and comparison of selected proposals;

3. Comparison and choice of the "mascot idea”. The winning idea is the "prickly pear" found in two proposals ID No. 12 and ID No. 24 awarded ex aequo.

The commission members, unanimously, chose the idea of the prickly pear for the following reasons:

- Original, compared to other proposals received.

- Representative of a typical Sicilian product that finds its natural habitat on the hills of Catania. Its characteristics, in fact, resemble the "Etna Prickly Pear" DOP trademark.

- Unusual and versatile, useful to the different variations that will be produced.

- Interesting and funny slogan associated.

The prize of € 10,000.00 will be divided into 50% to each of the two winning ideas.

Regulation of the IDEAS COMPETITION

for the creation of the

;“Catania 2011” Senior World Fencing Champ ionships Mascot

The Federazione Italiana Scherma – Comitato Regionale Sicilia launches an IDEAS COMPETITION, with in the framework of the Project “Progetto SiciliaScherma 2009/2010”. The initiative aims at selecting the MASCOT for the “Catania 2011” Senior World Fencing Championships. Rules are hereinafter indicated.

Art. 1

The competition is open to all the athletes of the Federations members of FIE – Fédération Internationale d’Escrime.

Art. 2

The Mascot should both embody the fencing spirit and hint at a distinguishing aspect of the city of Catania (the venue of the Championships) in an original way.

Art.3

The “Idea” must be submitted on a A4 sheet (210x297 mm) or in JPEG/PDF digital format (max 2MB) along with the following documents:

- Document 1): application for participation including personal and contact details.

- Document 2): a short description (max 500 words) of the inspiring motives and the meaning of the submitted subject, along with a slogan which should summarize the “Idea”.

The official language of this competition is English.

Art. 5

The “Idea” and the relevant documents must reach F.I.S. – Comitato Regionale S iciliano later than May 31st, 2010.

Applications and documents received after the deadline will not be taken into consideration.

In order to certify the reception of the documents, F.I.S. – Comitato Regionale Sicilia will send an email of acknowledgment to concerned persons to the email address written in the form “Document 1”.

NB: If you have sent all documents and do not receive the acknowledgment email with your ID number, contact us immediately and before May 31st, 2010.

Art. 6

An ad hoc commission appointed by F.I.S. – Comitato Regionale Sicilia, which includes experts and members of Regione Siciliana, F.I.S. and of the FIE.

Art. 7

The winning "idea" of the competition will be published on the website www.siciliascherma.it in the section “Your Championships” on July 31st, 2010. These rules will also be published in the same section along with possible supplements.

Art. 8

All submitted concepts and ideas will be of exclusive property of F.I.S. – Comitato Regionale Sicilia which will have the right to use them for exhibitions or publishing purposes. The winner “Idea”, after the final decision of the Judging Commission, will be of exclusive property of F.I.S. – Comitato Regionale Sicilia which will have the right to develop or process it depending on the specific purposes of use. In fact, being this a competition of ideas, it will be the idea to be awarded the prize and not its graphic development.

Art. 9

The prize for the winner is:

- travel expenses to/from Catania and stay during the “Catania 2011” Word Championships ;

- € 10.000,00. This amount can be exclusively used for sports/study purposes. The sum will be handed in to the winner only after F.I.S. – Comitato Regionale Sicilia has received ad hoc documents endorsed by the athlete’s Federation certifying the use of said sum for the purposes indicated in this Article.

Art. 10

Personal details of participants will be used in compliance with the regulations on privacy being in force in Italy.

Art. 11

Participation in the IDEAS COMPETITION automatically implies awareness and acceptance of all terms and conditions of this regulation.
