The Organizing Committee of the Project "SiciliaScherma 2009/2010",  has new, comfortable and elegant premises at the headquarters of the Sicilian Regional Committee of the Italian Fencing Federation, inaugurated on Sunday 16 June, 2009

“A luxury environment in line with the ambitious project which will originate from these premises”, quoting Giorgio Scarso, the president of the Italian Fencing Federation, on occasion of the inauguration of the new head-office of the Sicilian Regional Committee of the Fis (the Italian Fencing Federation), in the poly-functional building of the Thermal Spa in Acireale. The president was clearly making reference to “Siciliascherma 2009-2010”, the calendar of sports events during which Catania will submit its candidacy to host the 2011 Fencing World Championship. The head-office is a large, elegant and functional open-space area equipped with island workstations and including a headquarter office and the room of the president of the Regional Committee. This 170 sq m area is illuminated by plenty of natural light thanks to the entire side of large windows along the perimeter of the building. The white paint on the walls enhances the posters of fencers developed through innovative techniques applied to pictures taken during the junior and cadet Fencing World Championships, held last year in Acireale.  Finally, a waiting room with sofas and armchairs has been prepared to host visitors. The president of the Fis Regional Committee, Sebastiano Manzoni, host of the initiative, the Manager of the Thermal Spa offering the premises and a group of representatives of the Sicilian fencing federation and fencing enthusiasts have cut the ribbon. Sebastiano Manzoni, satisfied with the initiative declared: “we should really thank those who have proactively collaborated in the implementation of this project starting with the inauguration of the headquarter which will be a witness of the future commitment of our committee”.
