The great success of the series of fencing events organised in Italy  unequivocally confirms that Sport and Tourism is a winning combination for the promotion of the territory. On these occasions, in fact, young athletes and their escorts also become tourists who are able to appreciate our natural heritage, arts and culture as well as our organizational skills and efficiency. During these events the considerable number of participants sparked a virtuous mechanism in the local economy that generated and continues to generate income and employment.
The excellent results of "Acireale 2008" encouraged us to continue on this journey by creating a new project called "SiciliaScherma 2009/2010", which combines sport, culture and tourism as a driving force for the economy of Sicily.
